How do I reach Sissu?

Sissu is close to the atal tunnel near the Atal tunnel, Manali. So, anybody coming from Delhi must first reach. Sissu is just 9 km from Atal tunnel, just you must follow the first left diversion after exiting the Atal tunnel. 

To confirm you are on the right path just ask directions from locals, or just ask if you are in Burwa, Burwa is the first village on the left diversion from Atal tunnel. 

The Sissu valley is the second village inhabitation, in the Lahaul valley, and has a helipad to reach directly.

  • January in Sissu valley : The Weather is a freezing cold month in Sissu valley and is the most freezing month here. The temperature is usually below -10 degree Celsius and even more on the colder nights. This time is the time of heavy snowfall and it is not romantic as in february. It is never visible to visit in January unless you are a survival expert. 
  • February in Sissu valley: One should always try February for better snow or snowfall excursions.   The temperature is below this month but the weather is fairly recovering from the temperature drop in Sissu valley although at a slower pace. The worst low temperature can hit 8 degrees Celsius or 18-degree Fahrenheit.  It is ideal for winter vacation and fun, but if you wait till the cold becomes more bearable.
  • March in Sissu valley :  The march like February is colder but the valley recovers from the winter chill, and temperature bounces back to -2 degree Celsius, due to which it receives a delayed spring. 
  • April in Sissu valley: The April period is pleasant though colder with delightful morning sunshine. Helpful Travel Tips/ Things You Should Know Before Traveling Sissu

  • Make sure you do not travel from the last week of July to the mid-September, coarse showers can be dangerous. 
  • Avoid January to come here until you are trained to survive. 
  • Make sure you carry cash, because as soon as you enter Atal tunnel, you enter a remote location lacking modern facilities. 
  • Never travel without food, at least keep fruit, though the place is clear and there is no need to rescue from the wild. But the cold climate might numb you with the freezing breeze. 
  • Avoid videographic when you are inside a tunnel, serious action, you might have to face some dead-serious consequences.

Jio and BSNL are the only two connections working in the region.
